Public warned not to approach ‘armed man’ on the run in NSW

The public are being warned not to approach a man, believed to be armed and on the run in New South Wales.

The man, aged in his 40s, was involved in a barricade incident with police on the NSW central coast.

“Just before midnight, officers were called to a home on Wallarah Road in Kanwal following reports of an assault,” police said in a statement.

“After being informed that the man inside the home was armed, a perimeter was established and specialist police, including negotiating officers, were called.”

Police said three people managed to escape the house uninjured during the nine hour standoff, before officers stormed inside around 9.30am.

“Around 9.30am today, police entered the home however the man was unable to be located.”

Police, including the chopper, are currently scouring surrounding bushland and residential areas for the man, however have warned members of the public to exercise extreme caution.

“If sighted do not approach and call police immediately,” officers said.

The man, who is Caucasian with a skinny build, was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. He has messy hair with a full beard.
