Pushbike rider critically injured in Gold Coast crash

A PUSHBIKE rider has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after being hit by a car on the Gold Coast.

It happened on Kortum Drive at Burleigh Heads just before 2.30pm on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to reports of an incident involving a pushbike and vehicle about 2.18pm.


The rider of the pushbike sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision.

They were treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Queensland Ambulance said the patient was transported in a critical condition.

Their gender and age is not known.

Meanwhile, another person has been taken to hospital following a two-car crash at Arundel.

The vehicles came to grief on Brisbane Road (also Gold Coast Highway) and Computer Street just after 1.30pm.

Two patients were assessed at the scene, with one being transported to the Uni Hospital in a stable condition.

Queensland Ambulance said the second patient declined transport.

It’s been a busy afternoon for paramedics on the Coast.

Earlier, crews were called to a jet-ski accident off the Esplanade at Jacobs Well at 12.50pm.

One patient was treated at the scene before being transported to the Uni Hospital in a stable condition.
