Gold Coasters will want to look to the top of Q1 tonight, with the buidling set to light up in a spectacular glow of green in honour of our incredible local healthcare workers.
The display, which is supported by Surfers Paradise Alliance, also signifies a crucial changing tide for Surfers Paradise traders, many of whom were able to recommence and increase trade opportunities over the long weekend following a small ease in restrictions.
The green glow is expected to be visible to healthcare workers on the top floors of the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Surfers Paradise Alliance CEO Mike Winlaw said the display is a gesture of gratitude from traders and the
Surfers Paradise community to healthcare workers.
“The ongoing work of healthcare workers and the wider community has been an essential part in fast-tracking our return to normality,” said Mr Winlaw.
“Our hard-working nurses, doctors, hospital cleaners, emergency services and other healthcare workers have played a pivotal role in protecting the health and wellbeing of people in the community, and it’s important that we continue to respect restrictions in order to help our traders get back to normal in the coming months.
“We want to encourage families and friends across the Gold Coast to stay at home and look to the top of Q1 for what is a marker of what is to come, a beacon of light at the end of the tunnel.”
Local residents are encouraged to look up to the Q1 at 7pm tonight to catch a glimpse of the spectacle.
Residents who don’t have a direct view of Surfers Paradise’s iconic Q1 building will be able to experience the magic through a Facebook Live of the lighting display on the 1029 Hot Tomato Facebook page.
