Qld commits to home quarantine trial for stranded interstate residents

Home quarantine trials will soon begin in Queensland, with the state government finally giving the green light.

1,000 residents stranded interstate have been hand-picked to participate in the trial, which is set to begin on Monday.

There are strict requirements for those taking part, including that they have to be double vaccinated.

They also have to live in a house, within eight areas around the state. The Gold Coast is included in this.

The health department will be monitoring people via an app.

They’ll remain in home quarantine for two weeks, undergoing covid tests on days one, five and 12.

Anyone who’s found to be in breach of the rules will be immediately placed into hotel quarantine at their own expense. They’ll also be fined.

Queensland authorities are expected to provide more information about the trial today.
