Qld cows mutilated in shocking case of animal cruelty

POLICE are investigating a disturbing case of animal cruelty involving the mutilation of cattle on a property in Central Queensland last week.

Investigators said a person or group of people severed the ears from two cows belonging to a local property at Marlborough around 7pm on Wednesday 21 September.

The ears, which police said were tagged with the details of the property owner, were then tied to a gate with a piece of wire.

Police said it was still unclear whether the ears were cut from live or deceased animals, as no remains or injured cattle have yet been found.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have seen any unusual activity or suspicious persons on Marlborough Road on the evening of September 21 or early on September 22 to contact the Rockhampton Stock and Rural Crime Investigation Squad.
