Qld family heartbroken after 7yo boy drowns on Christmas Eve
A family has been left heartbroken this Christmas, following the tragic death of a seven-year-old boy in Queensland’s Somerset region.
Emergency services were called out to a property in Fernvale, west of Brisbane, late yesterday afternoon, following reports the boy had come into trouble in a dam.
Despite desperate attempts at the scene, the boy could not be revived.
A report is now being prepared for the coroner.
The tragedy comes just hours after paramedics issued a desperate plea to Queensland families, to keep an eye on their children while swimming this summer.
Paramedics have already responded to more than 65 near-drowning incidents this month alone, with around half of those being children under 12.
