The deadline for the Queensland government to finalise a royalties agreement with Adani has been extended, after the original deadline was missed.
The Queensland Coordinator-General had set today (September 30) as the deadline, though negotiations are still underway.
The state government and Adani came to the mutual decision to push the target date back two months, for a conclusion of the Royalty Deferral and Repayment Agreement for Adani’s Carmichael mine in the Galilee Basin.

It is now set for November 30.
As part of the announcement, Adani has advised that the commencement of construction on the Carmichael mine is not dependent on the finalisation of the Resources Regional Development Framework negotiations.
It could mean construction will get underway before the next deadline.
