Qld man accused of setting woman on fire remanded in custody

A man accused of dousing a young woman in petrol before setting her on fire has appeared in a Brisbane court.

The 27-year-old has been charged with attempted murder and entering a dwelling with intent following the horrifying attack, which took place at a home in Bracken Ridge on Tuesday.

In court today, it was revealed the man suffers from schizophrenia, with his matter adjourned to the mental health court on August 3.

Lawyers for the man did not apply for bail and he was remanded in custody.

The 28-year-old victim remains in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with burns to her arms and chest.
