A man accused of punching and strangling a woman after allegedly breaking into her home has been charged with a string of offences by police.
The terrifying incident happened around 11.30pm on Wednesday, when the 48-year-old man allegedly gained entry to a property on Cape Tribulation Road in Cape Tribulation.
Police allege the man punched and strangled a 45-year-old woman at the home before walking to a nearby residence where he allegedly assaulted a 48-year-old man by choking him and striking his head on the ground multiple times.

“It’s further alleged the man used a plank of wood to smash through a door to another residence causing considerable damage to the property before being confronted by the 52-year-old male resident,” Qld police said in a statement.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and transported the injured man and woman to hospital.
The woman sustained serious injuries to her face and neck, whilst the man was knocked unconscious and sustained life-threatening injuries to his head and upper body.
The alleged attacker, who police say is known to the victims, was found asleep at a nearby shack.
He was arrested and charged with four counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one charge each of choking, suffocation and strangulation; acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm; and burglary and wilful damage.
He’s due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 18.
