Qld man who bit head off live rat sentenced to community service
UPDATE: A Queensland man filmed biting the head off a live rat and slowly swallowing it has been sentenced to 100 hours community service.
The 24-year-old appeared in a Brisbane court this morning charged with one count of animal cruelty.
In January, RSPCA officers raided his Albion home after receiving a complaint about a disturbing Facebook video.
In the footage, he can be seen biting the head off a rat before washing it down with three shots of Vodka.
The Brisbane man was also banned from owning a pet for three years.

The maximum penalties for animal cruelty are three year’s imprisonment and a fine of $220,000.
Two men who were charged with animal cruelty after they filmed themselves torturing a possum were recently sentenced to one year’s parole which the RSPCA considered grossly inadequate.
