Qld man charged with animal cruelty after horror sledgehammer assault

A Queensland man has been charged with serious animal cruelty after allegedly hitting a dog in the head with a sledgehammer.

Police allege the dog entered the backyard of a home at Goondi Bend around 10.00am yesterday and attacked another dog at the property.

A man who owned the dog at the home allegedly used a sledgehammer to strike the other dog in the head, causing a serious injury to the animal.

The injured dog was found by animal control officers who rushed it to a vet for urgent medical care.

Police have since charged a 25-year-old Goondi Bend man with serious animal cruelty.

He is due to appear in Innisfail Magistrates Court on November 27.

Huh? Why was he charged? So if a strange dog comes on my property and proceeds to kill my dog I’m supposed to just stand there and watch my dog die? This is madness!!! What’s happening to this world???
