A Queensland man has died after drowning at a beach near Byron Bay.
Emergency services were called to Suffolk Park Beach around 12.30 on Saturday afternoon.
Surfers had spotted an unconscious man in the water and pulled him to shore.

Witnesses attempted CPR but the 59-year-old man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers from Tweed-Byron Police District attend and commenced inquiries into the man’s death.
A report will now be prepared for the Coroner.
