A QUEENSLAND man has been killed in a helicopter crash in South Australia.
The 45-year-old was piloting the chopper when it came down near Oz Minerals’ Carrapateena copper-gold mine, east of Woomera, in the state’s far north on Wednesday morning.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority said the man was laying power cables when his helicopter, believed to be a Eurocopter 350 model, crashed around 10.30am.

South Australia Police confirmed the 45-year-old pilot from Queensland died at the scene.
He was the only person on board at the time.
It was not immediately known which part of the Sunshine State the man was from.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau as well as major crash investigators from South Australia Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
