A Queensland Rail employee has died after being hit by a train at Petrie station overnight.
The man, aged in his 60s, was working on the tracks when he was struck just before 10.30pm.
He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, however died shortly after arrival.

Queensland Rail confirmed the tragic news in a statement on Tuesday morning.
“Queensland Rail can confirm a tragic incident occurred on our network last night involving one of our staff members,” the statement reads.
“At 10:26pm, a Queensland Rail employee was struck by a passenger train service at Petrie station.
“The employee was working as part of a track maintenance team and has sadly passed away.”
Queensland Rail Chief Executive Officer Nick Easy expressed his sympathy to the man’s family and fellow employees.
“I want to express my heartfelt sympathies to the man’s family and friends and Queensland Rail employees who I know will also be devastated by this incident,” he said.
An investigation is now underway.
“Safety is and will always be our number one priority,” Mr Easy said.
“We are currently working with investigators, including the Rail Regulator, to examine the cause of this incident.”
