Qld reveal team for Origin III

Kalyn Ponga has been named to make his return to the Queensland side, as the Maroons try to stop a Blues clean sweep in Origin III next week.

Ponga returns to the fullback position after missing the first two games of the series through injury.

Cowboys speedster Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow will make his debut, replacing the underfire Kurt Capewell in the centres. Capewell will instead be shifted to his preferred backrow position.

Dane Gagai will remain as the other centre with Xavier Coates and Valentine Holmes on the wings. Ben Hunt will also replace the dropped Andrew McCullough at hooker.

Broncos forward Tom Flegler and Newcastle’s Kurt Mann will also enter Camp Maroon for the first time as part of the extended squad.

The Gold Coast Titans’ David Fifita has been named on the bench as he prepares to head to the NRL judiciary after being sin-binned for dangerous contact in the side’s massive win over Canberra on Saturday.

Teammate AJ Brimson returns to the No.14 position he filled in game one. Fellow Titans Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and Moe Fotuaki were also named on the bench.
