Qld shop employee bitten, head-butted and stabbed with scissors

A 20-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly stabbed a shop employee with a pair of scissors at Manoora in north Queensland yesterday.

Police said that around 1.40pm, a man ordered food at a take-away outlet on Reservoir Road before damaging an Eftpos machine.

A 48-year-old male staff member confronted the man about the damage and the pair became involved in a physical altercation, during which the employee was allegedly bitten, head-butted and stabbed with a pair of scissors.

He was rushed to Cairns Hospital for treatment of a stab wound to his chest, a cut to his forehead, abrasions to his knee and a dislocated finger.

The 20-year-old was arrested at the scene and charged with one count each of wounding, wilful damage, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning.
