Qld traffic controller killed after car crashes through roadworks

A traffic controller has died after he was struck by a car which crashed through roadworks on the Sunshine Coast overnight.

Police said that the man was performing traffic control duty at roadworks on the southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway between Forest Glen and the Sunshine Coast Motorway when he was struck by the car.

Despite desperate attempts by emergency services and witnesses, the 56-year-old died at the scene.


The driver of the vehicle, a 47-year-old man, was located a short distance away from the crash with head injuries.

He was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment and is currently assisting with inquiries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
