The Queensland Treasurer, Curtis Pitt, will deliver his pre-budget speech to the Queensland Media Club today, a week out from the state budget.
The budget has already been spruiked as being heavily focused on jobs, especially in regional areas.
It was also to feature a massive surplus due to unexpected mining royalties but that has now changed to a modest surplus due to the cost of the clean-up from cyclone Debbie earlier this year.

The government has already announced a $1.12 billion dollar plan for Queensland’s power, including $770 million to cover the cost of the Solar Bonus Scheme and the $386m Powering North Queensland Plan, which includes a proposal to convert the Burdekin Dam into a hydro-electric power plant.
