Qld woman did doughnuts with three children in back of stolen car

A YOUNG woman has been arrested after she put three children’s lives at risk by stealing a car they were seated in, before reaching speeds of 100km/h while doing doughnuts.

The 19-year-old woman allegedly refused orders by police to stop and continued driving at high speed,  side-swiping a police vehicle before losing control of the car and hitting a tree.

It’s alleged the woman was a passenger in the car with the children before stealing the vehicle when the driver got out to go into a shop on Sunday afternoon.

Police say it’s extremely lucky that no one was hurt, especially the three children in the vehicle, aged two, five and eight.

The young woman is due to face the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on October 12.
