Gold Coasters, you better start training your pooches in the water, because for the first time in Surfing Queensland history, a puppy paddleboard race is coming to the coast!
The brand new event, dubbed ‘Pups on SUPs’ is set to take place on the 28th of October at the iconic Currumbin Creek.
It’s the first of it’s kind in Queensland and was designed to allow the community to have some fun in the water alongside their furry friends!

Surfing Queensland says the action packed day will include a 2km social paddle around the picturesque Currumbin Creek, a 250m Dash for Cash for the sprinters as well as a dog meet up with coffee and food trucks.
Legendary Australian Ironwoman Champion and AWLQ ambassador Courtney Hancock says she will be there with her dog in tow.
“It’s so great to see Surfing Queensland put on an event that incorporates everyone in the wider community and also gives back to such a great cause. I’m really looking forward to hitting the water with my pooch in October,” Hancock said.
Ezydog rash vests will be included for all puppies as part of registration along with a $20 gift voucher from Vetshop Australia. Stand up paddle boards will also be available free of charge on the day, with a huge range of spot prizes for competitors, both human and canine, up for grabs!
Surfing Australia will be donating a portion of each entry fee to the Animal Welfare League Queensland, with MBA Partners also matching all monies raised from the event and donating it to the rescue organisation.
