Quake hits Qld’s south east

QUEENSLAND’S southern coast has again being hit by a small earthquake.

The magnitude 4 tremor struck around 100km off the coast between Harvey Bay and Noosa just after 11am on Friday.

It comes about a fortnight after a series of tremors rattled the state’s southeast in late July, which were felt here on the Gold Coast.

A Geoscience Australia spokesman said Friday’s event was being treated as an aftershock to these earlier tremors.

There are no reports of damage and no tsunami warning was issued.
