Queensland continues run of no new COVID-19 cases

Queensland has notched up its fifth straight day with no new coronavirus cases.

The state has only recorded nine cases in the last month, eight of those being returned travellers.

It’s also been 26 days since the last suspected case of local transmission was recorded.

It comes as the Premier announced on Tuesday that Stage 3 of the state’s recovery roadmap would be brought forward by a week given Queensland’s run of good results.

Queensland’s total number of cases stands at 1067.

However just two remain active, including one on the Gold Coast.

Testing rates were high on Tuesday with almost 6000 swabs taken across the State.

There’s now been 370,973 tests carried out since the beginning of the pandemic.
