Queensland man accidentally wins lotto twice in one day

A Sunshine Coast man has managed to scoop more than $1.98 million after accidentally buying the same lotto ticket twice.

The man, aged in his 40s, held two of the four division one winning entries in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw.

With each division one prize worth $993,091.48, it meant the lucky winner scored more than $1.98 million.

When Golden Casket contacted the man on Monday to tell him the news, he hadn’t yet realised he had won twice.

“Holy f—! Two?! Two?! Oh my god. I’ve got double that win?” he said.

“So I’ve got more than $1.98 million? Mate, you’re kidding me, you are kidding me.”

He also admitted he often doubles up on tickets.

“I’ve done it a few times now. I buy entries in advance, but then sometimes overlap when I get the next one.”

The man said he had already begun contemplating how he might use the windfall, but may now change his plans.

“Twice. Yeah, this has changed the whole picture,” he said.

“Will I quit my job? This is a distinct possibility. This just puts us ahead of the game.

“I’m going to cry. I need to ring my mum and dad. With this, I can do something for them.”

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3885 on Saturday, October 13 were 10, 34, 6, 40, 37 and 3, with supplementary numbers 15 and 18.
