Queensland man the latest to die from COVID-19

Another Queenslander has sadly passed away from the coronavirus today, bringing the national death toll to 35.

A 78-year-old man passed away at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane.

Queensland Health has confirmed that the man had underlying medical conditions, and had just returned from a cruise.

It comes after New South Wales recorded another four deaths overnight, with three of the people former passengers of the Ruby Princess cruise ship.

It’s unclear if the Queensland man who passed away today had come from that cruise ship.

Queensland has now recorded five deaths, four of them were within the state, while a fifth was a Queenslander who passed away in New South Wales.

Despite the fatality, confirmed case numbers have begun to slow with just nine people testing positive in the past 24 hours.

It takes the state total to 907, compared to New South Wales, which has recorded 2580 cases of the virus and 16 deaths.

The national death toll now sits at 35.
