Queensland police officer stood down over hacking allegations

A QUEENSLAND police officer has been stood down after being charged with hacking into police computers.

The 38-year-old male Sergeant from the South Eastern Region is accused of conducting unauthorised searches on the Queensland Police Service QPRIME computer system.

The officer will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 24, charged with two counts of Computer Hacking and Misuse (section 408E of the Criminal Code Act 1899).

He has been stood down from official duty over the allegations and will be tasked to perform non-operational duties, pending the outcome of the investigation.
