The Gold Coast has a new top cop, with Police Commissioner Ian Stewart announcing several new appointments today.
Sunshine Coast police superintendent Terry Borland has been handed the role of Chief Superintendent of the South Eastern region.
There have been a several changes to the police leadership team across the state as well as a number of reappointment’s.

Commissioner Stewart said today’s announcement was one of the most significant injection of new leadership appointments and assignments in the Service’s history.
“It is crucial that the Queensland Police Service continue to prepare, adapt and evolve to meet the ever changing policing environment that faces law enforcement in the 21st century.
“I congratulate all newly promoted officers, including five Assistant Commissioners and four Chief Superintendents.
“The Queensland Police Service is fortunate to have exceptional officers in its Senior Executive team, and I’d like to personally thank the members of the Senior Executive who have been reassigned for the work they have undertaken in their current roles and for their continued efforts with their new roles.
“The strength of any organisation lies in having a cadre of senior people who are skilled across a number of portfolios and continually enhancing and developing their capabilities.
“I am confident that the members of our Senior Executive – all highly respected, experienced and professional police officers – will continue to lead the Queensland Service well into the future.
The reassignments of existing Deputy Commissioners are:
Deputy Commissioner Ross Barnett – Regional Operations.
Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski – Specialist Operations.
Deputy Commissioner Brett Pointing – Strategy, Policy and Performance.
The newly appointed officers to the rank of Assistant Commissioner including their assignments are:
Assistant Commissioner Maurice Carless – State Crime Command
Assistant Commissioner Brian Codd – South Eastern Region
Assistant Commissioner Mike Keating – Road Policing Command
Assistant Commissioner Tracey Linford (currently VicPol Assistant Commissioner) – Intelligence Counter-Terrorism, Major Events Command
Assistant Commissioner Paul Taylor – Northern Region
The reassignments of existing Assistant Commissioners are:
Assistant Commissioner Mike Condon – Operations Support Command
Assistant Commissioner Peter Crawford – Commonwealth Games Group
Assistant Commissioner Alistair Dawson – Central Region
Assistant Commissioner Bob Gee – Brisbane Region
Assistant Commissioner Peter Martin – Operational Capability Command
