Twenty-seven Gold award-winning Queensland tourism businesses from all corners of the state are hopeful to be crowned ‘Australia’s best’ at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards to be announced on Friday 10 April in Adelaide, South Australia.
The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards are the tourism industry’s premier awards program celebrating and recognising excellence.
The 27 Queensland finalists each received Gold in their respective categories at the 2014 Queensland Tourism Awards, the state’s most prestigious industry recognition program presented by Queensland Airports Limited in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland.

The finalists, covering nine of Queensland’s 13 tourism regions, represent the state’s $23 billion tourism industry, a sector which employs more than 235,000 Queenslanders and is the second largest export earner for the state.
QTIC Chief Executive Daniel Gschwind congratulated all Queensland finalists for their commitment to growing and improving tourism and travel experiences.
“The Queensland Tourism Awards and the Australian Tourism Awards give business owners and their employees an opportunity to take enormous pride in their contributions to the industry,” Mr Gschwind said.
“The Awards demonstrate the industry’s efforts being made toward raising standards of quality tourism experiences.
“Queensland tourism operators have a long history of success at the Australian Tourism Awards and the Queensland Tourism Industry Council congratulates all finalists on achieving industry recognition at a national level.”
Last year, 11 Queensland tourism businesses were honoured with national industry accolades at the 2013 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards including four Gold Awards, four Silver Awards and three Bronze Awards.
This year’s Queensland’s finalists will represent the state across 28 different categories, with one tourism business (Cruise Whitsundays) in the running to win an award in two categories.
