Queenslander lands another gold medal for the Aussies in the pool

Yet another gold medal for the Aussies at the Olympics, with a victory in the men’s 200 metre breast stroke.

Queensland’s Zac Stubblety-Cook came from behind to win the race, setting an Olympic record time of 2:06.38.

In true Aussie fashion, Zac only made it in front of the pack within the last 50 metres of the race.

Second place was Arno Kamminga from the Netherlands with a time of 2:07.01.

Third was Matti Mattsson from Finland with a time of 2:07.13.

It’s Australia’s fifth gold medal in the swimming events and our seventh gold medal overall so far.

The tally sits at seven gold, one silver and nine bronze, which puts us in fourth position.
