With only 9 days to go until the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, we’re being reminded to be careful when purchasing tickets.
The Queensland Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has launched a national campaign to highlight issues around buying second hand tickets to concerts, sporting events, festivals and other events.
The OFT has already received a number of reports of consumers being turned away from events because their tickets had already been resold multiple times.

Fair Trading Executive Director Brian Bauer said consumers should always buy tickets from the official seller.
“Some ticket resellers appear high up in internet search results, so it may not be immediately obvious whether they are a reseller or not.
“Anyone purchasing tickets from non-authorised resellers or social media ‘buy swap sell’ groups risks being turned away at the gate,” he said.
