Queensland’s Ash Barty could take the top spot on the tennis world ranking ladder, if she wins the Birmingham final tonight.
Barty took out Barbora Strycova in the semi last night, and will take on Germany’s Julia Goerges at 10.00pm AEST time.
It’s the second time she’s been in the Birmingham final event, though with her number 2 ranking going into tonight’s match, she could claim the top spot with a win.

If she does, she’ll be the fifth Australian ever to hold a number one world ranking.
She’d follow the footsteps of Evonne Goolagong Cawley, John Newcombe, Pat Rafter and Lleyton Hewitt.
What a legend. Go Ash!
