Brazil’s Italo Ferreira has won the Quiksilver Pro at Duranbah Beach on the Gold Coast today.
Despite some less than average waves over the course of the major surfing event, the Brazilian came from behind to take out the title.
America’s Kolohe Andino looked poise to take the top gong, before Ferreira surfed a near perfect final wave – which included a clean 360 spin – earning him a score of 7.07.

Andino only got a total tally of 12.43, while Ferreira (thanks to his final wave) came in with 12.57.
It’s the 24-year-old’s eighth year on the circuit.
In the women’s championship tour event, American Caroline Marks took out the first position, defeating Carissa Moore from Hawaii 13.83 to 11.67.
Marks – the youngest competitor on the tour – had an incredible run, taking out the sport’s Queen Steph Gilmore on Friday.
The 17-year-old’s best wave of the final earned her a huge 7.33, which coupled with a 6.5 to earn her the victory.
Both the Quicksilver Pro and the Boost Mobil Pro were held at Duranbah, rather than Snapper Rocks.
