RAAF jet in emergency incident at Qld Air Force base
Two pilots have escaped serious injury after being forced to eject from a fighter plane following an incident west of Brisbane.
The emergency unfolded at the RAAF base Amberley near Ipswich around 2.30pm on Tuesday
It’s understood the F/A-18F Super Hornet was attempting to take off at the time with reports its landing gear collapsed.
Defence has confirmed that all crew are safe.
“Defence’s first priority is the safety of personnel at RAAF Base Amberley,” Defence said in a statement.
“Defence will provide more information once the immediate actions associated with the incident are completed.
“The cause of the incident is not known at this time and will be subject to investigation.”
