Rapid Antigen Tests free for some Australians from today

Rapid Antigen Tests will today become free for some Australians, including Pensioners, Veterans, and other concession cardholders.

The new Federal Government scheme will see pharmacists able to hand out the kits to those eligible between now and April.

Up to 10 free rapid Covid tests over three months will be available to those who fall under the required categories.

It’s understood around six million Australians will be able to benefit.

However, Gold Coast pharmacists have warned that supply issues will continue to be an issue until further supply is available.

Pharmacy Guild Queensland branch president Chris Owen is urging people to be patient.

“Most pharmacies are still waiting for stock and waiting for their orders to arrive so they will not have stock available for this program on Monday,” he said.

“When pharmacies have got stock in and I’ve heard from my colleagues, that it’s within hours those are going.

“We expect that supply to improve over the coming fortnight and there will be plenty available in February.”
