The Tweed’s new three-bin system is set to begin this Saturday 1 July, with the last few homes expected to receive their new green bins and kitchen caddies in the coming days.
The Tweed Shire Council’s Waste Operations Officer, Wes Knight says his team is spending the next few days making sure every urban house and duplex in the shire has a green bin.
“If any single house or duplex in an urban area still needs a green bin, they can contact us to ensure there is one on its way,” Mr Knight said.

“Residents with green bins with lids that are yet to be changed should continue to put them out on their green bin collection day.
“If our waste collection contractors are unable to complete all the lid changes by the end of June, green bins with the old lid will be treated as Organics bins when the 3 Bin System starts.”
Any enquiries about the new system, including questions about bin deliveries and lid changes, can be made by emailing Council’s Waste Unit at firstname.lastname@example.org, by phoning Council on (02) 6670 2400 or by direct messaging through Council’s Facebook page.
