RECALL: CocoLuscious ice-cream, dessert sauce and chocolate pulled from shelves

A popular brand of organic coconut milk dessert products have been pulled from shelves amid a nationwide recall.

recall notice posted on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission website says CocoLuscious is recalling their Coconut Milk Ice Dream in flavours Peppermint Choc Chip and Vanilla Choc Chip, as well as Chocolate Fudge Dessert Sauce and Coconut Milk Chocolate blocks due to the presence of an undeclared allergen (milk).

“Consumers who have a dairy allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed,” the notice reads.

The company also took to Facebook to advise customers of the recall.

“Dear Customers. It is with a heavy heart that I announce the recall of the following four products due to the presence of an allergen – dairy.”

“As a vegan business, we take cross contamination issues very seriously, and to allay any fears of further contamination, we’d like to advise that we’ve had our products tested, and can confirm that the source of the contamination is the chocolate chips – an ingredient in the four recalled products.”

“From both an allergen perspective, and a vegan one, this is definitely something that should never happen, and we will be taking all measures possible to ensure this never happens again.”

The products have been available for sale at IGA, independent stores, Chocoholics and restaurants in QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA and WA from 12 January – 2 September 2016.

People who have a a milk allergy or intolerance have been warned not to consume the recalled products and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
