RECALL: Potentially dangerous Halloween toys recalled by Woolworths

Parents are being warned about a recall involving a popular children’s Halloween toy sold at Woolworths stores nationwide.

The Halloween Ghost and Pumpkin LED Spinning Wands have been pulled from shelves over fears they may crack open, exposing the button batteries which could pose a fatal risk to young children.

“The product may crack open when dropped exposing the button cell batteries – Ingestion of button cell batteries by young children can cause internal burns which may lead to serious injuries or death,” a recall notice posted on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission website reads.

Customers have been urged to cease using the product immediately and to return it to their nearest Woolworths or Safeway supermarket for a full refund.

The recalled spinning wands were sold in Woolworths and Safeway supermarkets nationally from 28 September 2016 to 18 October 2016.
