A South East Queensland school student got one slytherin surprise when she opened up her backpack on Tuesday.
The Ipswich girl was going about her normal day when she was greeted by a baby red-bellied black snake in the front pocket of her school bag.
Snake Catchers Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan & Gold Coast raced to the student’s rescue, and posted about the encounter in a post on Facebook.

“Bit of a shock for an Ipswich school student when she went to get her lunch this morning! ” they wrote.
It wasn’t long before people were quick to point out the coincidence of the snake seeking refuge in a ‘Gryffindor’ Harry Potter themed backpack.
“Bloody Slytherins, get out of the Gryffindor common room,” one person commented on the post.
“The bag is the right colours but the mascot is wrong!” wrote another.
