AFL House evacuated over threat

UPDATE @ 2.00pm: STAFF at Melbourne’s AFL House are returning to the building after earlier being evacuated over a threatening phone call.

It’s understood the sporting organisation received the threat at its Australian Football League headquarters in Docklands on Thursday.

The call has since been deemed a hoax, with all workers allowed back into the building by 2.00pm.

The threat came a day after the League replaced its logo on the front of the AFL House building to a sign that read ‘YES’ in support of same-sex marriage.

EARLIER @ 12.35pm: AFL House in Melbourne has been evacuated after reportedly receiving a threatening call.

It’s understood the sporting organisation received the threat at its Australian Football League headquarters in Docklands on Thursday.

Police are on scene conducting safety checks and staff have been evacuated as a precaution.

Yesterday the league attracted wide-spread attention on social media after changing its logo on the front of the AFL House building to a sign that read ‘YES’ in support of same-sex marriage.

Serves them right. I’m sure it’s not the opinion of everyone that works for AFL. Obviously they can’t say NO though. They will get the sack.
