The ACT Emergency Services Agency said the fire had “impacted on a number of sheds used to store maintenance equipment”.
The fire has since been contained.
“There has been a partial roof collapse with fire crews now working to fully extinguish the remaining fire,” the agency said in a statement at 1.13pm.
“The affected area is located near the lions and tigers enclosure with the animals being cared for by zoo staff.”
The zoo itself is still operating and is not impacted by the fire.
The on-site hotel, bungalow and tree house accommodation facilities have all been evacuated as a precaution.
