Police swarm town after possible sighting of teen murder suspects

UPDATE @ 3.00 PM | THE manhunt for two teenagers on the run in Canada continues, with police confirming there’s been a possible sighting of the pair in York Landing.

Canadian Police took to social media a short time ago to shut down reports Bryer Schmegelsky, 18 and Kam McLeod, 19, have been arrested.

“Despite reports – there is no one in custody at this time. RCMP officers remain in the community of York Landing & continue to investigate the reported sighting of the two suspects. All required resources are being used in this ongoing investigation,” a tweet by RCMP Manitoba reads.

They said “all efforts are being made to apprehend two individuals matching the description of the suspects” and warned locals to lock all windows and doors.

“The safety of community members is our priority. We remind residents to stay inside & check all doors & windows to ensure they are closed & locked.”

The pair have been on the run since July 14, after the bodies of Australian man Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend Chynna Deese were found on the side of a highway.

The body of a third person, 64-year-old Leonard Dyck, was also found on another highway just four days later.

EARLIER @ 11.45 AM | There’s reports the two teenagers wanted over the suspected killing of three people, including Australian man Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend, have been caught.

Canadian police confirmed this morning that they had moved their search for the pair from Gillam to York Landing after receiving multiple tip-offs.

“Multiple RCMP resources are being sent to York Landing, MB, to investigate a tip that the two suspects are possibly in, or near, the community,” Authorities said.

“A heavy police presence can be expected in the area. We will continue to update you as information becomes available.”

According to local reporters in the rural Canadian town, Bryer Schmegelsky, 18 and Kam McLeod, 19, have been arrested – although this has not yet been confirmed by police.

The pair have been on the run since July 14, after the bodies of Mr Fowler and his American girlfriend Chynna Deese were found on the side of a highway.
