Rescue helicopter called in to massive house fire in Currumbin Valley

The rescue helicopter’s been dispatched to a house fire in Currumbin Valley to transport a woman to hospital after she suffered serious burns.

The single-storey home was well alight when firefighters were called to the scene along Currumbin Creek Road just before 8.00 am.

Five crews are still on scene trying to extinguish the blaze, while critical care paramedics treat the occupant – a woman in her 60s.

She’s sustained burns to her head, face and arms, and will be taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital once the helicopter gets there.

She’s in a serious but stable condition according to a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson.

The fire is still burning at the time of writing.
