Residents evacuated after apartment fire
RESIDENTS have been evacuated from a Gold Coast apartment building after a fire broke out on one of its seven floors.
Emergency services were first called to the multilevel building on Main Street in Varsity Lakes shortly after 6pm.
There are unconfirmed reports the fire started in a kitchen located on the fifth floor.
One resident of Varsity Apartments on Main told myGC smoke could be smelt from the basement.
Multiple fire crews remain on scene, including police and paramedics, although there are no reports of any injuries.
