A final decision on whether the Gold Coast City Council will sell the controversial Surfers Paradise Transit Centre and Bruce Bishop car park will be made this afternoon.
The sale of the centre will fund a new bridge to the Isle of Capri and the city’s new cultural centre at Evandale.
While Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate argues the current car park is vastly under utilised and expensive to maintain, opponents of the plan say it is essential to keep adequate and reasonably priced parking spaces in the heart of the tourist strip

A vote is likely around 2.00pm Wednesday at today’s full Council meeting.
Angry residents including former Gold Coast City Councillor Eddy Sarroff are planning to protest outside Council Chambers from midday.
