Gold Coast’s Magic Millions Raceday results

Everything from high glamour and fashion to high stakes were on offer at the Jeep Magic Millions Raceday on the Gold Coast on Saturday.


Starting this year, the Gold Coast raceday became the country’s richest with $10 million in prizemoney up for grabs over nine races, including a staggering seven races worth $1 million or more.


They day was filled with stories of success, including the amazing tale of a three-year-old colt purchased from the Adelaide Yearling Sale for just $39,000 winning the two-million-dollar 3yo Guineas.

An eight-year-old Gelding purchased for just $20,000 also took out the million-dollar QTIS Open Plate.

Here are the results for the big races as they are won;

11:40am – Race 1: Marriott Surfers Paradise Magic Millions Maiden Plate (1200m).

WINNER: 3yo Colt “Wolf Cry” trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, bought by James Bester for $320,000.

PRIZE: $250,000 + $1,500 trophies

12:15pm –  Race 2: Sky Racing Magic Millions Country Cup (1200m)

WINNER: 5yo Gelding “War Jet” trained by Joe Cleary, bought by Richard Stachow for $45,000.

PRIZE: $250,000 + $1,500 trophies

12:50pm –  Race 3: Magic Millions QTIS Open Plate (1300m)

WINNER: 8yo Gelding “Buffer”, trained by Robert Heathcote, bought by Paul Willetts for $22,000.

PRIZE: $1,000,000 + $2,500 trophies

1:25pm –  Race 4: Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap (1300m)

WINNER: 4yo Mare “I Am Zelady”, trained by Joseph Pride, bought by Sam Kavanagh for $80,000.

PRIZE: $1,000,000 + $2,500 trophies

2:00pm –  Race 5: Crown Resorts Magic Millions Trophy (1800m)

WINNER: 5yo Mare “Tinto”, trained by Rex Lipp

PRIZE: $1,000,000 + $2,500 trophies

2:35pm – Race 6: Jewel Magic Millions Cup (1400m)

WINNER: 6yo Gelding “Lucky Hussler, trained by Darren Weir, purchased for $100,000.

PRIZE: $1,000,000 + $2,500 trophies 1100m

3:15pm –  Race 7: Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m)

WINNER: 3yo Colt “Mahuta”, trained and purchased by Darren Weir for just $35,000 at the Adelaide Yearling Sale.

PRIZE: $2,000,000 + $5,000 trophies

3:55pm – Race 8: Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m)

WINNER: 2yo Colt “Capitalist”, trained by Peter And Paul Snowden, purchased for $165,000.

PRIZE: $2,000,000 + $5,000 trophies + $500,000 Racing Women’s Bonus + $3,000 trophy

4:40pm – Race 9: Myer Magic Millions Sprint (1100m)

WINNER: 4yo Gelding “Husson Eagle”, trained by Patrick Payne, purchased by Prime Thoroughbreds for just $42,500.

PRIZE: $1,000,000 + $2,500 trophies
