Returned travellers mark Victoria’s first COVID cases in 42 days
Victoria has recorded its first new coronavirus cases in more than 40 days, however thankfully they don’t pose any threat.
Five returned travellers have tested positive to the virus while in hotel quarantine, with all of them remaining in isolation.
Victoria Health said the cases were acquired overseas, with no new infections detected in the community.
Those who tested positive include a man in his 30s, a man in his 50s and three women aged in their 20s, 30s and 50s.
It means there are now five active cases in the state.
Just over 8700 tests for COVID-19 were conducted in Victoria in the past day.
