Congratulations Queenslanders! Seven soon to be crime-fighting canines belonging to the Queensland Police Service have received awesome names all because of you.
The competition to name the G litter puppies ran for just under a week, with nearly 60,000 names being put forward.
“We received 59,449 suggestions, almost double the amount when the competition ran in 2015,” Police said in a statement.

After narrowing down the list, the final winning names have today been revealed.
They are… Gilly and Gator for the male dogs and Gidget, Georgie, Gabby, Gemma and Gypsy for the females.
Commissioner Ian Stewart said the G litter have been oblivious to the media spotlight as they have developed into social media stars.
“We know Queenslanders love being involved in naming our puppies and we are truly appreciative of the overwhelming response,” Commissioner Stewart said.
“The G litter are now ready to be collected by carers from around the state who will look after them until they are old enough to begin the next series of training.”
