REVEALED: The Street Route for Three Commonwealth Games Races

Today we got our first look at the street routes for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games road cycling and race walk events – so now you can start planning exactly where to go to get a front-seat position of the race.

The iconic Currumbin beach front is both the start and finish line for three races – the cycling road race, cycling time trial and race walk which will be beamed out to a global television audience of 1.5 billion.

GOLDOC, the City of Gold Coast and other key Games partners say they will be engaging with residents and businesses in the southern Gold region over the next 14 months to make sure everyone has the information they need.

Gold Coaster and Olympic Cyclist Sara Carrigan OAM played a key role in the design of the road cycling routes – which will take place on Sunday 8 April, Tuesday 10 April and Saturday 14 April next year.

She told myGC “this beautiful course starts on this beautiful ocean front in Currumbin.

“Then we start weaving our way through the Elanora hills, down into Currumbin Valley through the creeks, into the Hinterland. And then we weave our way back up over the Elanora hills and finish along the beach front.”

The GOLDOC team say the three road race events will be free, so that everyone to have the chance to Share the Dream of GC2018 by lining the streets and catching the exciting action of a world-class international event without spending a cent.
