Review of Bam Bam Bakehouse – Mermaid Waters

The crowds have been flocking to Bam Bam Bakehouse ever since its opening. Run by the owners of the famous Paddock Bakery in Miami, known for their scrumptious meals and baked goods, it’s easy to understand why Bam Bam has received such huge support.

This glamorous cafe is set in an idyllic park location just off the Gold Coast highway in Mermaid Beach. Parking is limited so you’re better off on foot or finding a nearby side street…but whatever you do, don’t park on the grass! You were warned, ok.

Landing a table requires patience, so be prepared to queue or arrive early to beat the yuppy families and 20-somethings. The all day menu is available until 2 pm with a few lunch options included after 11 am. My favourite dishes include the 2 Egg Nasi and the Pulled Pork Sandwich.

Healthy options include the Barbie Bowl, for ladies only (just kidding) or the Avo on Toast. Drinks on offer include coffee, bottled juice, milkshakes and if it’s late enough, a tipple or two.

That said, a key feature of Bam Bam is the tempting array of freshly baked pastries, doughnuts and cakes which are baked on site in the gorgeous bakery. In other words don’t drop by after your workout or on a diet day.

As a clean eating organic foodie, I personally wouldn’t visit the bakery too often but for an occasional treat on my way to the beach, why not? Following an 80% whole foods diet means I can spoil myself once in a while.
