Ride-share driver charged over alleged sexual assault of teen girl

A ride-share driver has been charged with sexual intercourse without consent following an alleged assault on a teenage passenger in Sydney at the weekend.

Police say the 37-year-old man collected three girls from the city after they booked his service around 1.30am on Sunday.

The trio were then driven to Bondi, where two of the girls got out, however a 17-year-old female remained in the vehicle as she was being dropped off at a different address at North Bondi.

“During the trip, it’s alleged the driver sexually assaulted the teenager in his vehicle,” NSW police said in a statement.

The assault was reported to officers and following investigations, police arrested the 37-year-old driver at a home in Liverpool around 4.20pm on Monday.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with sexual intercourse without consent.

The man was given conditional bail under the condition he must not operate as a ride-share service driver and is due to appear in Liverpool Local Court on 25 October.
