A RIDE share driver has been arrested and charged after allegedly following a female passenger into her home and violently sexually assaulting her in a terrifying attack on the Gold Coast.
Police said the 25-year-old man allegedly picked up the victim, a 21-year-old woman, from Broadbeach and drove her to a residence in Southport at about 2am on Tuesday.
After dropping the woman off and watching her walk inside, it’s alleged the ride share driver also entered the house, slipping through an unlocked door without the woman’s knowledge.

Once inside, it’s alleged the man violently sexually assaulted the 21-year-old woman in a bedroom.
Police said a violent struggle broke out, waking the other occupants in the home.
The woman was eventually able to fight the man off and he fled, police said.
A 25-year-old man from Miami was arrested yesterday and has since been charged with one count of burglary and four counts of sexual assault.
He was released and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on April 17, 2019.
It is not yet known which ride share service the man works for, or whether he is still employed as a driver.
Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said this type of predatory behaviour is totally unacceptable.
“Every person should be able go out, enjoy themselves and go home without becoming subject to an assault of any kind,” Detective Inspector Smith said in a statement.
“The apprehension of people who commit these types of offences will continue to be of the highest priority for police.”
